What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Based Outpatient Clinician position at Valley Community Services Board?
Exciting opportunity for a licensed or licensed eligible clinician to provide school based outpatient counseling to children and adolescents in the school setting. Services include providing Intakes, Individual and Group Therapy, Family sessions, development of person centered individualized service plans (ISPs), clinical documentation of progress toward identified treatment goals and service coordination with other involved providers. This position would work with a wide variety of children and adolescents with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring diagnoses. Strong clinical assessment skills, diagnostic abilities, and case management skills, as well as sound judgment, effective communication and time management skills are required. Candidates must possess a valid Virginia license (LCSW, LPC) or be license eligible. Licensed staff are preferred.
- Clinical license supervision and continuing education provided at no cost.
- Salary starting at $50,000.
- Health Insurance as low as $40/month for individuals. Family and dependent plans are also available.
- Sign-on bonus of $2,500.00 included in full with the first paycheck.

- Participation in the Virginia Retirement System.
- Provides individual, family, and group counseling services for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, including individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Collaborates with school administration regarding appropriate referrals and contacts families to schedule intakes.
- Maintains an average of 65% direct service, providing outpatient counseling services to designated schools, including intakes, individual, group, and family.
- Provides crisis stabilization and emergency services as needed. Refers to Emergency Services as appropriate.
- Conducts intake assessments addressing all required elements in accordance with Medicaid regulations and DBHDS guidelines.
- Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, consumers, and staff of outside agencies based on courtesy, compassion, and respect.
- Actively participates in peer, clinical, and administrative supervision.
- Complies with client rights and confidentiality policies, licensure regulations, Medicaid regulations as applicable.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work or related field.
- LPC, LCSW OR License-eligibility required.
