Behavior Intervention Specialist

Intervention Specialist for Filer School District & Twin Falls Day Program

Intervention Specialists are professionals who are qualified to provide direct intervention services which include habilitative intervention, therapeutic consultation, family education, family training, interdisciplinary training, and crisis intervention.

Intervention Specialists must:

· Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a human service field from a nationally-accredited university or college

· Must be able to provide documentation of one year’s supervised experience working with children with developmental disabilities. Experience must be gained through paid employment or university practicum experience or internship

· Must complete competency coursework approved by the Department to demonstrate competencies related to the requirements to provide intervention services

· Maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license and car insurance

· Successfully complete, pass, and maintain criminal history and background check

· Be CPR and First aid certified before providing services

· Agree to VCC’s drug testing policy

· Must complete required trainings and CEU’s as outlined in the Medicaid provider handbook

· Attend supervision as outlined in company policy

Job Description

• Actively assist your assigned clients in the participation, involvement, and routine of their individualized program

• Identify prioritized need areas

• Provide monitoring and evaluation of behavior and skill-based programs and alert the clinical supervisor of the need for plan modifications

• Develop and maintain summaries and graphs on plan of progress

• Monitors behavioral trends and outcomes

• Work with behavior staff in the schools to follow IEP goals and BIP

• Coordinate and conduct program and behavioral reviews with Clinical Supervisor

• Provides therapy as outlined in the implementation plan

• Addresses problems or concerns with the clinical supervisor

• Provide family and interdisciplinary training as outlined on the plan of service

• Provide a safe and hygienic teaching environment by providing supervision, anticipating dangerous situations, following proper healthcare practices, and emergency and safety procedures

• Encourage the participants’ growth and development by motivating in a positive manner, and maintaining a positive attitude toward individual clients

• Maintain positive community and home relations

• Work in a professional and collaborative manner with all team members

• Follow the policies and procedures of Valley Community Counseling DDA

• Perform other duties as assigned
