Position Summary:
Looking for friendly, hard-working students to join our team of Student Library Assistants, starting in Spring 2026! Student Library Assistants perform a range of tasks throughout the library. Students are usually scheduled for 6-10 hours per week, but hours are flexible based on student schedules and need. Students must be available to work a variety of weekday hours as well as occasional Sunday shifts. Tasks include:
Assisting students and staff/faculty at the front desk
Checking out/in books
Shelving and shelf reading
Processing books, newspapers, and magazines
Checking databases
Supporting library events, and more
Responsibilities/Expectations:
Maintain confidentiality.
Performs other duties as required or assigned pertinent to the position.
Must be a positive role model on and off the job.
Must know and abide by all University rules and regulations.
Must maintain a positive attitude toward the position.
Work weeknights and Sunday nights.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Be a full-time undergraduate student (basic).
Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised.
TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.
Skill in observing situations.
Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
Good interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player.
Experience with customer service- common courtesy in working with students, employees, and the public.
Good organization and time management skills.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to move about and lift books, push carts.
