Media Associate

Job Summary

The Valley Christian Schools Media Associate leads the creation of compelling photography and video content that brings our mission, community, and educational excellence to life. Through powerful visual storytelling, this role captures and communicates the transformative experiences that define a Valley Christian education.

This position combines creativity, strategic thinking, and technical expertise to produce engaging content across a variety of platforms and audiences. The ideal candidate is a true “preditor” (producer/director/editor) who can guide projects from concept and script development through filming, editing, and final delivery.

Deeply aligned with the mission of VCS, this individual is passionate about telling stories that inspire, inform, and reflect the work God is doing throughout our school community.

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 - $90,000 depending on experience.

Job Duties

Lead Multimedia Producer

• Lead all aspects of photography and video projects from concept through delivery, directing productions, and mentoring team members
• Attend VCS events to capture photography, videography, b-roll, and footage
• Produce and edit official video communications from the president and executive leadership
• Expert at video lighting for indoor interviews
• Collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and executive leadership across all levels of the school community

Digital Media Management

• Maintain the digital asset management system (Canto) for archival and efficient use of media content
• Curate and administer a public-facing photo gallery (SlickPic), selecting appropriate images that represent VCS’s community
• Manage VCS’s YouTube and Vimeo accounts, refreshing with new content and organizing
• Maintain files in Marketing Dropbox and Google Drive for video and photo content
• Maintain strong organization of project management using our project management tool Smartsheets
• Keep to deadlines and be a self-starter, successfully completing each project on time

Team Cultivation and Leadership

• Guide and oversee seasonal media interns, contractors, students, or associates, cultivating their professional skills and creativity
• Assign and oversee projects that build skills and contribute to VCS’s media goals

Innovation and Technology Integration

• Stay current on industry trends, integrating AI as a tool, and emerging production tools to improve content quality and efficiency
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration
• Communicate VCS brand voice and guidelines to other departments
• Collaborate with departments to understand media needs and support VCS’s marketing and communication goals
• Partner with the K-12 multimedia committee through monthly check-ins to brainstorm concepts, review visual aesthetics, and coordinate projects

Team Support

• Supports the marketing and communications team in other programs and activities as needed

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Film or Photography, or a related area of study
• Portrait and event photography & videography – willing to attend events outside normal working hours
• Experience in producing promotional and informational videos, including incorporating animated text, graphics, and visual assets
• Minimum three years in media production or equivalent education, with a demonstrated track record of project leadership and strategic content creation; agency, corporate, or education background preferred
• Ability to create and maintain a DAM (Canto) and online gallery (SlickPic)
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop, Microsoft/Outlook, Dropbox, and Google Workplace
• Deep knowledge of mirrorless and cinema camera bodies, lenses, stabilization rigs (gimbals), and field audio and lighting equipment and when to use each specific camera for the type of photography and videography needed
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Extent of Public Contact

Daily contact with teachers, staff, coaches, students, parents, guests, and school administrators.

Physical Demands

Ability to operate and transport production equipment, including but not limited to mirrorless cameras, gimbals, lighting, and sound systems to both Leigh and Skyway Campus.

Working Conditions

The employee works primarily in a school and office environment with standard lighting, moderate noise levels, and climate-controlled conditions. Workspaces may include carpeted, tile, and concrete flooring. This position is generally performed during a regular 40-hour workweek, though occasional evening, weekend, or overtime hours may be required to support school events and deadlines. Limited local and regional travel may also be required.
