Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Groundskeeper to join our team! The Groundskeeper is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the school’s outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, playgrounds, and sports fields. This role ensures that the grounds are safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing for students, staff, and visitors. The Groundskeeper will work closely with the K8 Principal to review and implement landscape plans.

Role And Responsibilities

• Operates motor vehicles to transport materials and equipment
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
• Plants, transplants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds and plant areas
• Maintains flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs
• Recognizes disease and insect problems of woody and herbaceous plants and performs pest control operations
• Plants and propagates bedding plants
• Irrigates, mows, rakes, and trims lawns and/or athletic fields
• Maintains campus walkways, common areas, parking lots and exterior areas
• Performs other related assigned duties

Qualifications and Skills:

• Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school’s Mission & Beliefs.
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Ability to read and understand safety data sheets, materials, and training
• Must take OSHA-related training as assigned
• Ability to use a vacuum, broom, mop
• Ability to work with power tools
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Ability to multi-task with organization skills
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
• Ability to maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
  
  

Education And Experience

• High School diploma or GED Required
• Experience in ground maintenance
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
• Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
• Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
• Work in noisy and crowded school environment
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
• Frequent walking throughout the campus
• Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events
