Infection Prevention Specialist
Job Summary
This role applies epidemiologic principles to support the prevention, surveillance, analysis, and reporting of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs). The position is responsible for identifying and managing infection risks, including investigating clusters of healthcare-associated events and implementing effective prevention strategies.
The incumbent will provide ongoing education to clinical and non-clinical staff, as well as patients and families, to promote best practices in infection prevention. This role also champions high standards of infection prevention across the organization and collaborates with county, state, and federal public health agencies to support broader public health initiatives.
Schedule Details
This hybrid position offers flexibility, including one remote workday per week following successful completion of onboarding and orientation. Some weeks may require full on-site presence to support key initiatives and team priorities.

We are currently hiring for two roles:
- Full-time position: 40 hours per week
- Part-time position: 20 hours per week
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required), or equivalent professional experience
Licenses & Certifications
- One of the following (required):
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license (California Department of Public Health)
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health or a related field with relevant Infection Prevention experience
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 24 months of hire or transfer
Work Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience (required)
- Prior hospital-based infection prevention experience (preferred)
Compensation & Schedule
- Salary Range: $47.70 – $73.80 per hour
- Shift: Day
