The award-winning Orthopaedic Clinic at Valley Children’s Hospital sees patients as young as infants to young adults and the team treats all aspects of children’s orthopaedic needs on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Performing approximately 2,000 pediatric orthopaedic surgeries and seeing more than 32,000 outpatient visits a year, Valley Children’s team of experienced board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeons specialize in the treatment of complex conditions such as congenital deformities of the upper and lower extremities, spinal disorders, sports-related injuries and neuromuscular diseases.
Our Orthopaedics department was one of the first in the nation to implement an urgent care center that allots additional time and resources to handle anticipated influxes in pediatrician referrals and unscheduled appointments. These include traumatic injuries from simple falls on the playground to major motor vehicle collisions. Based on experience, the practice developed the concept that we could predict – and therefore better prepare for – increases in patients who require immediate attention.
Job Summary
The Ambulatory Service Representative (ASR) welcomes patients and families and performs check-in procedures in a timely, customer friendly and efficient manner in accordance with VCH guidelines. Responsible for the patients' pre and in-person registration including the accurate capture and validation of demographic and insurance information, insurance eligibility, and the collection of co-payment, deductible and other known self-pay amounts. Partners with providers to schedule new referrals and follow up appointments for patients and coordinates appointments with other departments Participates in department projects that result in process improvements to support accomplishment of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
- Minimum two (2) years Clerical and/or healthcare experience (required)
- Secretarial/clerical training (preferred)
- Computer Skills Proficient computer skills and aptitude.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills as well as the ability to problem solve effectively and handle multiple priorities.
- Bilingual Skills Preferred.
