Job Summary
The job of Instructional Assistant III – Life Skills was established for the purposes of providing support to the instructional program within an assigned setting, in either a special education or general education classroom, with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction of students with special needs (ranging from mild to severe), observing and documenting student(s’) progress; implementing plans for instruction; and assisting student(s) by providing behavioral assistance, including toileting and hygienic needs. Paraprofessionals whose duties include instructional support must have: High school diploma or the equivalent, and (a) Two years of college (48 units), or (b) A. A. degree (or higher), or (c) Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
