Position Summary
The Production Planner / Operations Coordinator supports Valley Box’s daily production flow by managing job scheduling, coordinating materials, and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
This role bridges communication between Sales, Engineering, and Production, helping align workloads, prevent delays, and forecast labor needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys solving operational puzzles, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Maintain and update daily and weekly production schedules for Steel and Wood departments.
- Forecast labor and capacity to prevent overtime and production bottlenecks.
- Create, review, and release work orders and cut schedules in Excel and ERP.
- Track job progress, delivery status, and schedule changes.
- Prepare the daily Operations Snapshot Report
Operations & Logistics
- Print, audit, and distribute pack lists & barcode travelers for production.
- Schedule deliveries, pickups, and coordinate with internal drivers and third-party vendors.
- Audit and correct barcode clock-outs and work order labor entries.
- Communicate job risks, quality issues, or timeline impacts to management.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as a key contact for Production and Sales to confirm job timelines and customer commitments.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with all departments.
- Identify process improvements and propose operational solutions to management.
- Provide cross-department support (inventory verification, month-end counts, etc.).
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations coordination (manufacturing preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (formulas, formatting, reporting).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems for order creation and scheduling.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
