VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICTHuman Resources665 Walnut Avenue, Vallejo, CA 94592JOB DESCRIPTIONSubstitute PlumberTitle: Plumber Reports To: Maintenance & Grounds ManagerDepartment: Maintenance & Grounds Work Year: 260 Days per yearClassification: Classified Salary: RangeDate Approved: July 2010DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager or designated Manager, performs journeyman work in the installation, repair, inspection and maintenance of plumbing equipment and installations throughout the school district.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Receive in written and oral instructions for the Task LeaderAssist in planning and estimating plumbing repairs and related installations.May aid in all necessary plans and specifications required when maintenance or installations are to be performed by other than district personnel.Requisition the issuance of supplies, parts and materials.List materials, making estimates of costs of construction and repairs.Recommend to the task Leader as to the adequacy, necessity and extend of desirable repairs in the interest of the safety of pupils, personnel and property.Perform journeyman work in the installations, such as servicing lines for distributions of fresh water, air lines, sanitary sewers and storm drains, including such equipment as valves, faucets, water closets, lavatories, or modified sprinkler irrigation systems for P.O.C., laterals, connecting lines risers, heads and all other pipes/lines required.May also do plumbing work related to heated plants, servicing fuel lines and other related duties, such as metal working, soldering and welding require din the construction and repair or metal equipment, and perform duties in conjunction with other trades.Service kitchen equipment.Power clean all downspouts on annual basis at each school site and record on appropriate form for Task LeaderMaintain assigned vehicle in daily safety check.Maintain clean and safe work areaPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or GEDTraining and practical experience requirements for completion of the apprenticeship program or equivalent.At least four years verified experience as a plumber, in all phases of the plumbing trade, including experience in the installation, maintenance and repair or heating appliances, their appurtenances and facilities.Experience in the routine maintenance and repair of installations and all plumbing equipment, appurtenances and facilities.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Basic fundamentals of plumbing and related craft work.the tools and equipment commonly used in the plumbing craft.Ability to: Operate and maintain mechanical tools and equipment common to the craft.Perform heavy manual laborWork cooperatively with othersLICENSES:Must have appropriate California Driver's License and be insurable by the District's carrierMust secure any other licenses as required by the DistrictMust have and maintain all appropriate licenses, permits, and bonds required by the employer and local, state and federal agencies.PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:Frequency Key; None (1) Occasional - up to 25% of shift (2); Intermittently - up to 50% of shift (3); Frequently — up to 75% of shift (4)Activity FrequencyBend 3Lift/carry 0-10 lbs 3Twist 3Lift/carry 11-25 lbs 3Squat 3Lift/carry 26-40 lbs 3Kneel 3Lift/carry 41-100 lbs 3Climb 3Stand 3Reach above shoulder 3Walk 3Grip/Grasp 3Sit 3Extend/Flex Neck 4Drive 2Use Right Hand 3Perform Repetitive Hand Motions 4Use Left Hand 3Keyboarding/Mouse Work 3Ability to See 4Ability to Hear 4THE VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER and in compliance with federal and state laws, does not discriminate in any employment practice on the basis of age, ancestry, color, marital status, medical condition, national origin, political or union affiliation, physical or mental disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or sex.
