VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICTHuman Resources665 Walnut Avenue, Vallejo, CA 94592JOB DESCRIPTIONBus DriverTitle: Bus Driver Reports To: Director of Operations or DesigneeDepartment: Transportation Work Year: 183 DaysClassification: Classified Salary: See Classified (CSEA) Salary ScheduleDate Approved: March 2020DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:The Bus Driver, under the supervision of the Director of Operations or Designee, operates all types and sizes of school buses over designated or assigned routes to transport designated persons.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:Drive a bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging students at designated stops. EOversees the loading and unloading of students, releasing students to authorized individuals, assures that all safety precautions are followed. EEscorts and assists pupils across the street when necessary. ETransport students and teachers on field trips and athletic contests. EAssures maintenance of the bus and other motor equipment is in a clean and safe operating condition in accordance with current State Regulations. EMaintain good order and proper discipline among students on buses in accordance to district and department policies. EOperates a special bus ramp; loads and unloads students in wheel chairs on and off bus; verifies operational safety of wheelchairs (including safety belts, tires and brakes), permits only properly functioning wheelchairs on bus, and secures the wheelchair(s). E Conducts safety and operation inspection of assigned vehicle, daily. EMaintains a variety of records as required including the daily bus reports, mileage, routing, maintenance, etc. EAttends professional development opportunities to maintain appropriate licensing, and develop skills necessary to meet student needs. EConduct school bus emergency procedures and passenger safety training as per California State Education Code 39831.5Perform other related duties as assigned.E — Essential functions of the job description.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Completion of high school or equivalent.Must have satisfactorily completed a current school bus driver training course.REQUIREMENTSValid and appropriate California State Driver's license Class B or higher.California State School Bus Driver's CertificateValid Medical Examiner's CertificateCPR/First Aid CertificateSafe driving record for three yearsAll applicable fees will be reimbursed by the District.BACKGROUND CHECK: Fingerprinting.
