Job Description
The PRN Pharmacist is responsible for delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care, supporting pharmacy operations, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory, clinical, and 340B program requirements.
Essential Functions
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care, including counseling on prescription and non-prescription medications, and collaborate with providers as clinically appropriate.
- Review and verify medication orders for appropriateness and completeness, considering patient-specific factors such as age, allergies, height, weight, diagnosis, and other pertinent information.
- Complete prescription orders received from patients and providers, including data entry, data verification, drug utilization review (e.g., dosing, interactions, therapeutic duplications, contraindications, allergy checks), filling, labeling, and final product verification.
- Utilize clinical pharmacy expertise to assess dosing, contraindications, and therapeutic alternatives, and communicate recommendations to providers to support safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug therapy.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records within the pharmacy software system and the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation of adverse drug reactions, medication safety concerns, and medication program requirements.
- Monitor and interpret updates to 340B program guidance, HRSA/OPA rules, and Medicaid policy changes to ensure continuous compliance with federal 340B regulations.
- Work at least 4 hours per month.
- Complete mandatory training assignments within required deadlines.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as needed.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education Level:
- Registered Pharmacist with a license to practice in the State of Arizona.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to pass pre- and continued employment screenings successfully.
- Maintain compliance with relevant training, licensure, and/or certifications for this role.
- Current immunization records (delete if not required for role)

- Hepatitis B screening or declination (delete if not required for role)
- Valid BLS certification (delete if not required for role)
- Valid level 1 fingerprint clearance card (delete if not required for role)
- Must maintain current and unrestricted credentials in accordance with Valle del Sol’s Credentialing and Privileging requirements.
