What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Professional position at Valinor?
Valinor is building a new kind of credit institution — one with the rigor and judgment of a financial firm and the speed and ambition of a technology company. We originate, structure, and distribute institutional-grade credit products natively on blockchain-based rails, with AI-driven operations and in partnership with the broader digital asset ecosystem. We recently raised a $25M seed round and are a small, high-conviction team operating at the frontier of capital markets.
The RoleValinor is hiring an Investment Professional to own deal execution across private credit and structured credit — from sourcing and underwriting through closing and portfolio management. This is a high-autonomy role: you will drive transactions from initial screen through investment committee recommendation, and take ownership of portfolio performance post-close.
You will be a core member of a small investment team with direct impact on what we invest in, how we structure it, and how our investment process evolves. The right candidate has strong credit judgment, can operate independently on complex transactions and/or in net new end markets, and is energized by building institutional-quality processes from the ground up.
What You'll Do- Own and drive deal execution end-to-end — origination, underwriting, structuring, negotiation, closing, and portfolio management. Lead diligence, build the analytical work product, and independently develop and present investment recommendations to the investment committee.
- Design and structure net new financing products that use on-chain infrastructure to reduce friction, improve collateral transparency, or create novel risk/return profiles. Work with engineering and product to translate credit logic into programmable, scalable structures.
- Run portfolio monitoring with real-time visibility enabled by on-chain collateral and programmatic reporting — performance tracking, covenant/compliance, and early-warning signals.
- Design and maintain AI-native investment operations: workflows where assumptions are traceable to sources, analyses are reproducible, decisions are documented, and repeatable work is systematized.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, operations, legal/compliance) to ensure the investment process is operationally sound and built to scale.
- Early-stage and high momentum. $25M seed, active deal pipeline, partnerships with institutional counterparties, and a clear thesis on where credit markets are going.
- High-impact role. You will have direct ownership over deal execution and how the investment process evolves — not a seat on a large team executing a playbook someone else wrote.
- Exceptional team. Small team with deep institutional credit and technology backgrounds. We move fast, think rigorously, and hold each other to a high bar.
- Right timing. Private credit infrastructure is being rebuilt for the digital era. Valinor is positioning to be the trusted institution at the center of that transition.
- 5 years of experience in private credit, structured credit, or opportunistic credit.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive a transaction from initial screening through investment committee.
- Strong credit judgment on risk/return tradeoffs, structuring, covenants, collateral, and downside protection.
- Strong financial modeling skills and comfort working with imperfect data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to present investment theses and risks clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- High ownership and strong work ethic. Ability to operate independently and follow through without close oversight.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building repeatable processes in a startup environment.
- Direct experience working with blockchain, tokenization, and/or real-world assets
- Experience building investment infrastructure (templates, dashboards, checklists, lightweight automation) from scratch, particularly on top of foundation LLMs
- Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
- Stock Option Plan
