Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Plant Manager
GENERAL PURPOSE: Responsible for supervising all maintenance personnel to ensure efficient maintenance on plant equipment, buildings, yard, trucks, and office with a goal of "zero downtime manufacturing" is achieved. It is to provide the highest quality service to other departments in the plant which enables them to provide the same to our brick and tile customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Supervises all maintenance personnel.
- Performs a wide variety of plant, vehicle, truck, yard and office maintenance work.
- Maintains and repairs a variety of complex brick plant machinery such as grinding equipment, conveyors, brickmaking and setting machinery, kiln and dryer (including fans), packaging machinery, and other machinery.
- Performs required mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance functions; does preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Uses wide variety of tools; maintains records of work performed, parts used, and time spent.
- Works at the journey level to repair vehicles such as forklifts, loaders, trucks, autos etc.
- Repairs engines, automatic and standard transmissions, clutch and brake systems, generator and starter systems, pumps, electrical systems and other major components of vehicles. Tunes engines. Checks, overhauls or replaces carburetor; grinds and resets valves; relines brakes. Repairs and replaces mufflers, tail pipes, door locks, and other parts. Adjusts brakes and aligns wheels. Keeps time and material records.
- Plans, lays out and performs complex arc welding and acetylene-oxygen cutting on a wide variety of unrelated tools and equipment.
- Welds various types of metals and alloys in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions for high pressure and strength requirements.
- Sets up machines for production such as screens, dies, augers, texturing machines, setting machine and other manufacturing machinery.
- Sets up and builds dies and wire holders to manufacture brick shapes.
- Works safely and is watchful for unsafe conditions with self, fellow employees and equipment.
- Uses safety equipment and wears Personal Protective Equipment when needed.
- Follows the Standards of Personal Conduct and Safety Rules and also the Lock-out/Tag-out Policy.
- Reports to work at odd hours if called out for emergency repair work at night or on weekends. (Must have home/cell telephone)
- Orders maintenance supplies and related plant supplies as necessary.
- Order safety supplies as necessary.

OTHER DUTIES
- May perform minor new construction or installation of equipment.
- May assist in installation of new equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Attends safety committee meetings, plant safety meeting, and conducts department tailgate safety meetings.
- Assists on compliance with all OSHA and MSHA regulations.
- Manages respirator program.
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supervision of all maintenance personnel. Plans, coordinates and schedules PM on all related equipment as needed. Supervisory responsibilities are to ensure that subordinates perform at a high level of productivity and tasks are completed to acceptable standards set forth by the Plant manager or
Pueblo COO. Ensure that fellow employees comply with, and follow the Standards of Personal Conduct and Safety Rules and also the Lock-Out/ Tag-out policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Strong mechanical aptitude, familiar with mechanical hand and power tools inclusive of the lathe, shaper drill press etc.
- Strong automotive knowledge.
- Working hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge, arc welding and oxygen/acetylene cutting experience.
- Familiar with National Electrical code and capable of trouble shooting with prints and schematics, using a volt/ohm and amp. meters.
- Must have a detailed knowledge of plant safety rules and guidelines, demonstrate job safety awareness, and be knowledgeable of all applicable SDS’s (Safety Data Sheets).
- Strong supervisory skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Trade school, college or strong experience in a minimum of three of the following areas: Machine Shop,
Electrical, Automotive, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, and/or Welding/Cutting. A minimum of one year of industrial maintenance supervisory experience required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements are moderate. Physical activities include walking, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, squatting, lifting, pivoting, pushing and pulling, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands and fingers, and the ability to regularly lift 50 pounds to 100 pounds occasionally is required. The sense of being able to see, hear, and having full power of speech are required.

Requires good physical condition - climbs ladders, catwalks and on machinery. Moves heavy parts, tools and equipment. Requires dexterity of hands, adroitness of body.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in a hot or dusty environment, both inside and outdoors (must be able to wear a respirator). Work schedule requires good consistent attendance and may require overtime including working on Saturdays.
May be required to work the day or afternoon shift.
