Overview
VALIANT Construction LLC is seeking motivated undergraduate students for its Summer Operations Internship Program. This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the full construction project lifecycle, with rotations through Preconstruction, Field Operations, and Project Management. Interns will gain practical experience in project documentation, site support, schedule coordination, and communication across teams.
The program is ideal for students studying Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Business Management who are looking to develop real-world skills while contributing to active projects. Successful interns may be invited to return for additional semesters or be considered for full-time employment upon graduation.
Key Responsibilities
- Preconstruction Support
- Assist with subcontractor bid coordination, solicitation, and response tracking.
- Prepare and maintain logs for bids, submittals, and preconstruction documentation.
- Gain exposure to estimating and scope review processes.
- Field Operations Support
- Observe daily site activities, logistics, and safety protocols.
- Assist with documentation tasks, including RFIs, change orders, and quality control logs.
- Participate in site walks, safety audits, and project timeline monitoring.
- Project Management
- Assist Project Managers and Engineers with procurement, scheduling, and project controls.
- Support meeting preparation, including agendas, minutes, and action item tracking.
- Attend internal project meetings (SSVs, OACs, Scorecard reviews) to gain insight into project execution.
- General Internship Development
- Actively participate in training sessions, site visits, and department rotations.
- Seek mentorship and feedback from VALIANT leaders.
- Engage with company culture through team huddles, quarterly meetings, and social events.
Required Education and Experience
- Actively enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, or related field.
- Eligible to participate in a summer internship (10–12 weeks).
- Basic understanding of construction processes, terminology, and project documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn across multiple departments.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to various jobsites.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
- May be required to lift or carry materials up to 25 pounds during site visits.
- May be required to work in varying weather conditions when visiting jobsites.
- Continually required to use hand/finger dexterity for tasks such as data entry or document review.
Compensation & Program Benefits
- $25/hour paid internship.
- Housing allowance provided for relocation to Louisville, KY.
