Valexus partners closely with VC firms, general partners, management companies, and individual investors to deliver high-quality tax strategy, planning, and compliance solutions tailored to the unique complexities of the venture ecosystem.
Valexus is seeking its first internal hire—a motivated, detail-oriented Tax Consultant—to help expand, elevate, and manage the tax services provided. In this role, you will work directly with the Managing Member, VC clients, external tax compliance partners, and leading law firms. You will play a key role across the full structure of our client base, including funds, general partnerships, management companies, and individual general partners.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to federal, state, local, and international tax matters affecting venture capital investment structures and the individuals behind them. You will help shape how our firm grows, evolves, and delivers exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
You will oversee or assist with:
- Preparing year-end tax workpapers, including transactional and financial statement analysis
- Preparing federal, state, and local tax return preparation for SPVs, blockers, general partnerships, etc.
- Preparing quarterly tax estimates
- Managing, reviewing, and coordinating tax filings prepared by external firms
- Analyzing foreign entities and cross-border structures for proper tax reporting
- Gathering and organizing information related to tax positions and compliance
- Conducting technical research to identify tax issues, planning opportunities, and solutions
- Working directly with VC clients and service providers on tax planning, strategy, and compliance
- Supporting various other firm and client needs as the organization grows
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2–4 years of experience in asset management tax, public accounting, or a related tax discipline
- Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, including working with complex spreadsheets, formulas, lookups, and data analysis
- Experience with GoSystem Tax RS (or similar professional tax preparation software)
- Working knowledge of partnership tax (Subchapter K)
- Familiarity with venture capital, private equity, or investment fund structures
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
