Seasonal Ranch Associate-24001FM Description This seasonal position is responsible for guiding hunts on the Diamond K Ranch in such a manner that adheres to safety guidelines, equipment upkeep, and guest services of the highest level. Maintains the physical holding pens for the birds that are purchased for hunting. Represents the company in presentation and hospitality to the guests of the Ranch. Under the supervision or direction of an employee or manager, the seasonal ranch associate will be responsible for the following: Guides hunts for customers as directed by Management. Follows short and long-term facility maintenance plans for all ranch facilities which includes bird pens and dog kennels. Assists Management with ensuring the health and well-being of all upland bird (Pheasant, Quail, Chukar), big game, and other exotic species on the ranch, and the penning methods necessary to properly maintain a healthy environment. Inspects birds and wildlife for general health and sickness, and administers necessary medication to prevent the spread of disease. Maintains all hunting records in compliance with applicable regulations to include dates, participants, and wildlife harvest detail. Ensures the health and well-being of all hunting dogs on the ranch, including maintenance, breeding, and medical records, ensuring immunization shots are up to date, developing feeding schedules for each dog, and monitoring overall health by inspecting each dog daily, especially after a hunt. Administers first aid to dogs if necessary and determines if further medical aid is necessary. Maintains the shooting sports complex. Ensures the safety practices of all shotgun sports are followed. Operates farm and ranch equipment as needed, and performs routine grounds maintenance, including clearing land, shredding, mowing, etc. This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 1 year of experience in the following area(s): bird, big game hunting and/or dog training required. Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Wildlife Management or related field preferred. Knowledge of at least one of the following areas required: Bird anatomy to determine illness and necessary medication to prevent the spread of disease Big game animals and their habitats Landscaping maintenance Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Diamond K Ranch required. Ability to read and interpret Texas Parks and Wildlife Department policies, regulatory guidelines preferred. Ability to assess needs of wildlife or dogs preferred. Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization preferred. Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications preferred. Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods preferred. Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes preferred. Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage of ranch responsibilities preferred. Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments preferred. Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements preferred. Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel) preferred. Work predominantly involves moving from one location to another. Typically includes exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Might include ability to climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl at differing elevations. Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
