A large-site development contractor is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and support the financial performance of the company and its affiliates.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining accurate financials, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and providing insight to support strategic decisions. The right candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, leadership experience, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting functions, including AP, AR, and payroll
- Oversee job costing, AIA billing, subcontract tracking, and WIP reporting
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements across multiple entities
- Monitor and manage weekly cash flow
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with federal and state tax filings (1099s, sales and use tax, etc.)
- Coordinate with external accountants and advisors
- Oversee insurance programs, including renewals and certificates of insurance
- Serve as a key contact for vendors, customers, IT providers, and insurance carriers
- Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Active CPA required, with prior public accounting experience
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
