The Role

We're seeking a Prompt Engineer to design and optimize AI systems that power healthcare workflows. You'll craft prompts that enable our platform to handle complex healthcare scenarios while maintaining compliance and clinical accuracy.

This is a hands-on role where you'll move fluidly between engineering prompts for conversational AI, designing multi-agent workflows, and collaborating with healthcare stakeholders to understand real-world use cases.

What You'll Build

Patient-Facing Workflows

• Design prompts for AI systems that conduct natural, empathetic healthcare conversations
• Build conversational flows that handle medical information collection and patient communication
• Create prompt templates that translate complex healthcare information into accessible language
• Develop multi-turn dialogue systems that manage interruptions, clarifications, and contextual nuance

Administrative & Operational Workflows

• Engineer prompts for intelligent document review and data validation processes
• Design AI workflows that automate verification and approval processes
• Build prompts that identify inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies in healthcare data
• Create quality assurance systems that surface edge cases for human review

Core Responsibilities

• Design, test, and refine prompts for healthcare-specific LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude)
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure prompt performance across accuracy, compliance, and safety metrics
• Contribute to fine-tuning workflows: curate datasets, run training jobs, evaluate model outputs
• Develop reusable prompt libraries for common healthcare automation scenarios
• Collaborate with clinical teams and operations staff to understand workflow bottlenecks
• Write Python/JavaScript code for prompt testing, system integration, and production monitoring
• Establish guardrails for patient safety, regulatory compliance, and data protection
• Prototype multi-agent architectures where specialized AI agents collaborate on complex workflows

Required Qualifications

• 2 years experience with LLM prompt engineering and evaluation (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for automation and API integration
• Hands-on experience with conversational AI design and multi-turn dialogues
• Understanding of fine-tuning techniques (dataset preparation, training, evaluation)
• Strong communication skills to bridge technical systems and operational needs
• Comfort with rapid iteration and metrics-driven optimization in production

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare technology experience (EMR/EHR systems, healthcare operations)
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards and interoperability protocols
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
• Understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2)
• Experience with AI safety, reliability testing, and anomaly detection
• Background in NLP for medical or regulated domains
