Job Title: Medical Assistant (Back Office & Front Office Support)Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist with back office duties, including performing blood draws, assisting the doctor during patient exams, and managing other clinical tasks. In addition, the candidate should have knowledge of front office operations and possess excellent communication and sales skills to contribute to a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Back Office Duties:
- Assist the physician during patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform blood draws (venipuncture) and specimen collection.
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and exam rooms.
- Take patient vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate).
- Document patient histories, symptoms, and other relevant information in medical records.
- Prepare and manage patient charts for doctor review.
- Administer injections as directed by the physician.
- Prepare and submit lab specimens for processing.
- Provide patient education on medical procedures and follow-up care instructions.
- Responsible for maintaining the existing tracking system for patient’s lab result and follow up appointments
Front Office Support (Optional but Desirable):
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring all information is updated and accurate.
- Schedule patient appointments and confirm upcoming visits.
- Answer phone calls, direct inquiries, and provide basic information to patients.
- Assist with billing, insurance verification, and managing patient co-pays.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming office environment.
Sales & Communication:
- Utilize strong communication skills to explain medical procedures and address patient concerns.
- Promote additional services and products offered by the practice in a professional manner.
- Develop and maintain rapport with patients to encourage patient retention.
- Assist with marketing efforts, if applicable, and represent the practice in a positive, patient-friendly manner.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical office or clinic setting.
- Proficiency in blood draws, taking vital signs, and assisting with patient care.
- Knowledge of front office operations, including scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communications.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sales experience or the ability to engage with patients in a way that encourages service uptake is a plus.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred.
