What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interplant Transportation Manager position at Valdese Weavers Llc?
Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.
Job Summary:
Manages the transportation needs between all VW plants. Responsible for directing the activities of the yarn warehouse at the Main Plant.
Essential Functions:
- Schedule drivers accordingly between all plants to meet production needs
- Initiate hiring and training of all new company drivers
- Work with external suppliers to ensure the safety and maintenance of equipment is maintained properly.
- Manage the yarn warehouse at the Main plant facility and work with other departments to ensure product is located and inventoried properly.
- Works with external suppliers to sell off obsolete or scrap materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety:
- Safely perform all duties following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.
- Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible.
- Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.
- Maintain 5S standards.
