The Field Technician performs hands-on construction work on commercial waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building-envelope projects.

This position works under the direction of a Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager and is responsible for completing assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working in active construction environments, and willing to perform both vertical and horizontal specialty construction work. Projects may include building façades, parking garages, balconies, plaza decks, pool decks, rooftops, and other commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commercial waterproofing, concrete repair, façade restoration, and related specialty construction work.
  • Follow daily instructions provided by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager.
  • Complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist with jobsite setup, mobilization, protection, material staging, cleanup, and demobilization.
  • Prepare work areas and surfaces for waterproofing, coating, sealant, and concrete repair applications.
  • Remove damaged concrete, coatings, sealants, and other existing materials using hand and power tools.
  • Perform grinding, chipping, scraping, cleaning, pressure washing, and other surface preparation activities.
  • Assist with concrete forming, reinforcing steel installation, patching, repair mortar placement, finishing, and curing.
  • Install or assist with the installation of waterproofing membranes, coatings, sealants, expansion joints, traffic-bearing systems, and related materials.
  • Mix, transport, and apply construction materials in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Assist with crack repair, epoxy injection, joint preparation, caulking, and sealant installation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, small equipment, and construction machinery safely and correctly.
  • Assist with scaffolding, aerial lifts, swing stages, rigging systems, ladders, and other access equipment as trained and authorized.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and company property in good working condition.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Protect occupied buildings, vehicles, landscaping, pedestrian areas, and surrounding property from damage.
  • Report damaged tools, equipment issues, unsafe conditions, material shortages, and field concerns to the Foreman.
  • Assist with material deliveries, unloading, inventory, and staging.
  • Follow all jobsite rules, company procedures, and general contractor requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, daily safety meetings, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses.
  • Support punch-list work, final cleanup, inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Work cooperatively with Foremen, Superintendents, other technicians, subcontractors, and project partners.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous construction, waterproofing, concrete, restoration, masonry, roofing, or related field experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn about commercial waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building-envelope systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a field crew.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in active construction environments.
  • Strong attention to safety, workmanship, and jobsite organization.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.
  • Ability to work independently after receiving direction.
  • Ability to communicate jobsite concerns clearly to the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Comfortable working on both vertical and horizontal projects.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in parking garages, rooftops, balconies, façades, plaza decks, and pool decks.
  • Experience with scaffolding, aerial lifts, rigging, or swing stages is a plus.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred.

Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous commercial construction experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with waterproofing, concrete repair, façade restoration, masonry, coatings, caulking, or sealant installation is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Aerial lift, scaffolding, rigging, swing-stage, fall-protection, and manufacturer product certifications are a plus.
  • Entry-level candidates who are dependable, safety-focused, and willing to learn may be considered.
