Job Summary
The Advisor – Capital Expenditure (Capex) & Repairs is responsible for execution of capex and major expense projects. Project execution entails management of budget, supplier bid analysis and award decision, execution of purchase orders within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, coordination of logistics, & oversight of the project’s procure-to-pay cycle. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Advisor may be assigned special projects related to strategic sourcing, fleet spares management, switching costs analysis, and total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages assigned authorization for expenditures (AFE’s) procure-to-pay cycle.
- Raises, executes, and closes AFEs assigned.
- Executes purchase orders and ensure timely deliveries of spares and repairs.
- Ensures sufficient spares are available to support the Valaris install base, maintaining a global view of assigned equipment.
- Negotiates with suppliers to achieve the best possible value for Valaris.
- Ensures purchases are compliant with company and industry specifications and standards.
- Supports the coordination and execution of capital equipment repairs, ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
- Collaborates with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs for capital equipment.
- Tracks repair statuses, updates and maintains accurate repair trackers, and monitors capital equipment performance.
- Ensures quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) inspectors are assigned to ongoing repairs, disassembly, or reassembly of capital equipment.
- Assists in the development and implementation of procurement strategies for capital equipment and repairs in alignment with global operational needs.
- Supports the preparation and management of budgets related to capital spares and repair activities.
- Monitors and enforces compliance with material management policies and procedures, ensuring the accuracy of capital spares records and reports.
- Works closely with the logistics team to ensure safe, timely, and efficient transportation and handling of capital spares and repaired equipment.
- Ensures proper documentation and certification for repaired equipment and capital spares, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborates with internal departments, such as Finance, Accounting and Operations, to resolve any issues related to procurement, invoicing, or equipment returns.
- Contributes to process improvement efforts, suggesting enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce costs in capital spares management and repairs.
- Performs additional duties as necessary and participate in special projects as required.
Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in purchasing and repair of major equipment.
- Strong understanding of capital equipment, repairs, and inventory management processes.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly in managing inventory and procurement processes.
- Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across departments and with external suppliers.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of drilling equipment, including knowledge of key suppliers, industry specifications, and standards.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Knowledge of financial accounting, purchasing, and management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel at an advanced level (use formatting and tracked changes; financial and logical functions; pivot tables, work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; import and export information).
- Working knowledge of document control systems and databases.
