What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Supervisor/Master Scheduler position at VAERO?
Responsible for the operational success of the Material Division to include activities related to material handling, picking, packing, receiving, and shipping. Provides support, guidance, and accountability to the Material Coordinator I & II positions. Ensures safety throughout all material operational functions. Additional responsibilities include managing the Master Production Schedule to ensure operational integration into all work centers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership to the Materials Division to meet or exceed defined targets in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Communicates internally and externally to functional leaders’ important status updates.
- Conduct meetings with operations and/or responsible parties to discuss throughput and review performance metrics at the operational level.
- Reviews reports daily to drive KPIs and metrics.
- Manage the proper processing of warranties, RMAs, and claims.
- Responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy throughout storerooms locations ensuring all policies are met and cycle count operations are performed.
- Reviews customer execution reports and generates / aligns the Master Production Schedule.
- Provides level loading analysis to PMO, Supply Chain, and Operations to streamline sales orders to work order planning.
- Provides daily / weekly work center schedules.
- Leads the daily and/or weekly scheduling and forecasting meetings.
- Manages changes in schedules to meet new customer specification changes.
- Manages changes in schedules when new programs are received.
- Drives process improvements in quality and productivity. Ensuring housekeeping and FOD prevention standards are maintained.
- Leverages lean and six sigma tools to drive performance improvements.
- Maintain all materials in accordance with AS9100 quality standards.
- Works collaboratively with internal customers to understand and respond to needs of the business.
- Monitor and control labor hours and approved overtime.
- Responsible for the instruction and training of tasks and processes in accordance with corporate requirements.
- Responsible for coaching and developing team in alignment with corporate values and policies. Drives accountability throughout the organization. Administers discipline as appropriate.
- Daily reporting the Material Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have three (3) years prior experience in a related field to include: Material Management, Planning and Scheduling, Production Scheduling, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Engineering Change processes, or Inventory Control. Aviation experience preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of progressive experience in planning, scheduling, or a systems position.
- Strong interpersonal skills capable of negotiation and collaboration.
- Proven understanding of logistics and lean, identifying how they can be leveraged to eliminate inventory waste.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill to all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in MS office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Foundational VBA or other related programming skills preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
