Senior Internal Auditor

Our client is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join a growing audit and compliance team. This newly created position will lead and execute risk-based audits, evaluate internal controls, identify process improvement opportunities, and partner with leadership to strengthen operational effectiveness across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform internal audit engagements from planning through reporting
• Assess internal controls, business processes, and risk management practices
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management
• Assist in developing and executing the annual audit plan
• Monitor remediation efforts and follow-up on audit findings
• Leverage data analytics and technology to improve audit effectiveness
• Mentor and support junior audit team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• 5 years of experience in public accounting, internal audit, or risk advisory
• CPA or CIA required
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, and auditing standards
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Work Environment

• Hybrid schedule (4 days in office, 1 remote day)
• Birmingham-based position
• Occasional additional hours may be required to meet project deadlines
