SUMMARY:
The incumbent is an integral member of the supply chain management team and is responsible for overseeing the material planning and production control functions. The Material Planning Manager will execute the strategic objective of the VACCO Supply Chain Department by developing tactical efforts resulting in short term and long term improvements. Using various forecasting techniques, the Planning and Production Control Manager will manage the inventory policy and make changes as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the timely release of manufacturing orders and requisitions to support the sales and financial targets
Work closely with Purchasing Manager to identify risk in purchased part deliveries and collectively mitigate schedule delays
Oversee the facility master schedule and overall schedule attainment. Identify opportunities for improvement and streamlining processes
Participate in monthly SIOP (S&OP) demand profile development meetings and provide timely input for proper execution of profile reviews
Team up with operations to identify aging WIP, participate in WIP audits, transact necessary scrap activities and ensure sufficient work is released to production to maintain utilization and efficiency targets
Collaborate with program office to develop schedule recover plans and schedule adherence to customer timelines
Manage bookings profile and validate lead-time assumptions driving MRP requirements
Primary point of contact for troubleshooting MRP parameter issues, item master population and overall data integrity in SAP ERP system
Coordinate stockroom/kitting priorities with Logistics and Inventory Control Manager to develop a level loaded release plan to production floor
Serve as primary point of contract for all material planning and production control related activities
Develop world class planning organization focused on strategic planning, improving on time releases, escalating risk to customer schedules and continuously improving the material flow within supply chain in support of customer deliverables
QUALIFICATIONS:
Direct knowledge or experience with material planning, master scheduling, SIOP (S&OP) and inventory control tasks. Strong time management and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. Advanced level proficiency in all MS office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or Operations Management. Master’s or MBA degree preferred. A minimum of six (6) years of hands on supply chain related experience in a complex manufacturing environment. Advanced level understanding of MRP/MRP II and production control activities in a SAP ERP environment. Motivational leader with the ability to develop high performing teams.
APICS Certification highly preferred (CPIM or CSCP). Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
