This position, located at the Oklahoma City VA HCS, Facilities Management Service, performs duties as a Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader, and is responsible to lead, train, and mentor subordinate Sheet Metal Mechanics in the non-supervisory daily work of the Sheet Metal Mechanic trade occupation.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Physical effort is often strenuous and is typical of industrial construction trades. Driving may be required.

Responsibilities:
Major duties of this position include but are not limited to...- Maintains, repairs, and installs hospital HVAC systems
- Uses several kinds of metals, including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material, and aluminum alloys for constructing, repairing, and forging
- Uses blueprints and specifications to determine material to be ordered for repair work
- Applies various methods for developing patterns, including the use of the principles of triangulation, radial, and parallel-line development
- Uses shop mathematics to figure irregular curves, angles and pitch
- Uses complex hand and power tools such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, and rotary machines
- Performs sheet metal work to assemble, disassemble, and reassemble structures in a large hospital setting
