PHYSICAL THERAPIST

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Physical Therapist provides the evaluation, rehabilitation, treatment and prevention of chronic conditions, illnesses, and/or musculoskeletal injuries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform evaluations, determine PT diagnoses, develop a plan of care and perform physical therapy procedures to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, improving health and preventing or limiting permanent physical disability.
• Completes and submits all reports pertaining to the evaluation via EMR.
• Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the clinic.
• Confers with person's most closely associated with the active management of the patient and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modifications and/or progress.
• Prepares and submits clinic reports via EMR, assuring confidentiality and following all HIPAA guidelines to include initial evaluations and summaries, daily treatment notes for all patients seen that day under his/her care, progress reports to referring physicians and agencies, discharge reports and summaries, special reports as directed by Lead Physical Therapist.
• Attends Clinic meetings as required.
• Sees that all clinic routines and procedures are carried out as outlined.
• Keeps abreast of new techniques and trends in the field of Physical Therapy.
• Supervises the activities of his/her area of the clinic including but not limited to scheduling patients for treatment and evaluations, preparing daily notes and report, maintaining inventory of materials and supplies for their area of the clinic.
• Orients new personnel to the program and procedures.
• Assists the Lead Physical Therapist in planning of any new programs to be developed within the clinic.
• Assists the Lead Physical Therapist with the revision of any procedures with the clinical personnel as necessary.
• Actively participates and adheres to all policies and procedures as enumerated in the Corporate Compliance program

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college.
• A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current license in Physical Therapy in the State of Virginia
• CPR certified
• 2 years of previous outpatient experience
• Vestibular therapy experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and an understanding of process improvement techniques.
• Self-initiator for projects, improvement activities, and evaluation methods.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS

• Medical office setting.
• Well-lit and well-ventilated adequate space.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to clinic setting.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to view computer screen for an extended period.
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand conditions. Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling, and pushing of equipment, etc.
