V2X is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of phased array radar operations and maintenance to work the COBRA DANE radar systems and subsystems at the direction of the Site Manager located at Shemya, Alaska.

Remote Operations & Schedule

Due to the unique, remote geographical location on Shemya Island, this position requires a demanding deployment rotation.

• Work Schedule: Employees typically work 11hours a day, 7 days a week, but are not limited to this schedule.
• Rotation & R&R: Employees will be on a consistent rotational on-island schedule, followed by uncompensated rest and relaxation (R&R) off-island.
  
  

Responsibilities

This is a key position on the COBRA DANE radar contract and is responsible for providing technical expertise and information to support radar system and subsystem operations, troubleshooting and return to service. Candidate is expected to have knowledge in radar components to support efforts to solve sparing and obsolescence issues. This position prepares installation, operation, and maintenance specifications and instructions, analyzes equipment to establish operating baseline data and conducts equipment tests for new or existing (upgraded) components.

This position analyzes engineering proposals and technical data to determine viability of modifying existing equipment or installation of new equipment and possesses strong troubleshooting skills down to the component level acumen. This position requires knowledge of phased array radar operation that includes advanced technical knowledge to solve radar problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals, USAF Technical Orders, original microfiche files, system drawings/schematics, local operating instructions, and similar documents. Work requires a strong knowledge of the interrelationships of phased array radar circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of radar experience OR High School diploma with 10 years of radar experience
  
  

Required Experience

• Strong understanding of system drawings/schematics, electrical circuits, and troubleshooting down to the component level methodologies
• Ability to interact with Radar Diagnostic Software to operate, evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot radar system errors and/or radar operational inconsistencies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to include effective communication with others
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
• This position requires an active Secret clearance
