The Opportunity:
We're seeking a forklift certifed yard crew member to join our team at our Outdoor Storage & Railhead facility in Puyallup. Hourly wage: $24-$30/hour.
- Vacation - Accrue up to 40 hours per year for the first year. Accrual will increase at that time.
- Sick - Accrue at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked

The Yard Crew position is at our Outdoor Storage & Railhead located in Puyallup, WA. This position is responsible for supporting the yard storage, inventory, the safe loading, unloading, and moving of large machinery or freight. Additionally, maintaining storage areas in the most efficient configuration possible and keep the yard and grounds neat and organized. This position is entirely outdoors, year-round, and requires working in all weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure safe and proper loading and unloading machinery or freight.
- Use appropriate chains or straps to properly lift machinery or equipment using a forklift or boom.
- Safely load equipment onto the truck trailer and set blocks appropriately to ensure a secure load.
- Understand and be familiar with all straps and chains and maintain knowledge of the weight allowances.
- Pad and tie down loads safely, securely and in a timely manner.
- Place loads to achieve proper balance on trailers (vital).
- Know and observe weight limits on all axles.
- Operate a forklift safely and effectively to load, unload, and move products and material.
- Review packing slips to verify accuracy of the product being loaded or unloaded, equipment and customer information.
- Perform required visual inspections of all equipment before, during, and after trips.
- Document all maintenance and safety concerns and report to your supervisor.
- Establish good working relationships with other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- 2 years related warehouse and inventory control experience with increasing responsibilities.
- Certified forklift driver.
- Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Must adhere to required safety regulations at all times.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to identify and perform basic mechanical tasks.
- Ability to work independently; be self-motivated; results oriented.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Must be able to work outdoors and in the elements.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; 100 pounds with assistance.
