Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including sterile IV admixture procedures and aseptic technique to ensure safe and accurate drug compounding.
- Manage medication inventory, including intake, storage, and restocking of pharmaceuticals in accordance with hospital policies and state healthcare regulations.
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately while adhering to drug regulation standards and pharmacy laws at the federal and state levels.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing medication information, answering questions, and ensuring proper medication administration procedures are followed.
- Maintain meticulous documentation for all pharmacy activities, including IV infusion records, medication logs, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory standards such as sterile compounding protocols, drug regulation policies, and aseptic technique guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate medication orders, verify prescriptions, and support critical care or acute care patient needs.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program; current registration or licensure as required by state law.
- Proven pharmacy technician experience in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, or clinical settings with a focus on critical care or acute care environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, drug regulation policies, and pharmacy laws at the federal and state levels.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation, sterile IV admixture procedures, and aseptic technique is essential.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance including sterile compounding standards and hospital pharmacy protocols.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations involving patient care.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage intake processes efficiently while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with healthcare teams and support patient care initiatives.
