Human Resources Manager – Wheeling, IL

A premier manufacturer of high-quality grills, fireplaces, and outdoor lifestyle products is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team at our Wheeling, IL headquarters. With decades of craftsmanship behind our name, we’ve built a reputation for durable, design-driven products that turn outdoor spaces into year-round gathering places.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted partner to leadership and employees, with a primary focus on high-level employee relations and ensuring compliance with multi-state employment laws and regulations. This is a hands-on position that also requires strategic oversight, balancing day-to-day HR operations with long-term planning. You will have the opportunity to build upon existing processes, strengthen our workplace culture, and directly contribute to the continued growth of the organization.
Human Resources Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters, ensuring a proactive and consistent approach to employee experience.
- Partner with senior leadership to support organizational structure, workforce planning, and long-term strategic initiatives.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Lead high-level employee relations efforts, including investigations, conflict resolution, and fair, consistent application of policies.
- Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and multi-state employment laws, updating internal practices as needed to reflect legislative changes.
- Provide guidance to leadership on complex compliance matters and employee relations strategies.
Policy Development & Performance Management
- Develop and refine HR policies to promote efficiency and align with company values.
- Oversee performance management processes that foster feedback, employee development, and alignment with company goals.
- Support department leaders in coaching, team development, and succession planning.
Talent Acquisition & HR Team Development
- Lead recruitment efforts for HR team members, including identifying, interviewing, and onboarding HR support roles.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Design and implement engagement initiatives to enhance retention, morale, recognition, and internal communication.
Qualifications
- 5 years in a Human Resources leadership role.
- Strong expertise in employee relations, including complex case management.
- Proven experience with multi-state employment laws and compliance.
- Solid knowledge of HR best practices and policy implementation.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and reporting tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
