If you’re the person who notices that a number doesn’t make sense, digs into the details, finds the missing piece, and doesn’t stop until you know WHY it happened, this is the kind of accounting role you should look at.

We’re looking for an Accounting & Financial Operations Analyst to join a small, collaborative finance team and work closely with the VP of Finance. This is not a repetitive AP/AR processing role. Your day will involve researching financial activity, reconciling information, investigating discrepancies, and communicating with outside business partners to make sure the company is receiving what it is owed.

You’ll learn the business from the ground up, then gradually take on more responsibility as you become an expert in the company's processes and systems.

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY BE DOING:

• Research invoices, orders, payments, and financial transactions to determine where discrepancies occurred
• Reconcile expected payments against what was actually received
• Investigate missing or incorrect commission payments and determine the reason behind the difference
• Identify whether an issue originated internally, through order entry/processes, or with an outside business partner
• Communicate with manufacturers, vendors and business partners by email and phone to research and resolve issues
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation throughout the process
• Enter and maintain order and accounting information in QuickBooks and internal systems
• Use Excel to analyze, compare, and track financial information
• Process invoices and other accounting transactions as needed
• Work directly with the VP of Finance on accounting projects and problem-solving
• Take ownership of issues and follow through until they are resolved

THE PERSON WE WANT:

You don't have to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who is smart, analytical, and genuinely interested in understanding how the numbers connect.

You may be a fit if you:

• Have accounting experience and hands-on QuickBooks experience
• Are strong in Excel and comfortable learning new systems
• Enjoy reconciliations, research, and solving discrepancies
• Naturally ask, “Why doesn't this match?” and actually want to find the answer
• Can look at information from multiple sources and connect the dots
• Are comfortable communicating with vendors, manufacturers, and business partners
• Have the patience to investigate an issue instead of making assumptions
• Take ownership and don't need someone constantly checking your work
• Want to continue developing your accounting knowledge and responsibilities

You'll learn how the business actually makes money, understand the transactions behind the numbers, and become the person who knows where the money is coming from, and where it isn't. You'll work directly with an experienced VP of Finance in a small team where your work is visible and your knowledge will continue to grow. As you become more familiar with the business, you'll have the opportunity to take on additional accounting responsibilities.
