(Sewer, Storm Drain & Water)

To complete jobs assigned by the Job Foreman. Checks the equipment and materials prior to use on all jobs. Notifies the Foreman when equipment breaks down or materials are inadequate. Handles job problems with little direction from Foremen. Completes jobs such as setting up the grade, laying pipe on level ground for sewer lines. Being aware of safety at all times. Contribute to the Team effort for success by working wherever they are needed when they are available.

Requirements

• Able to accept and use clear and concise directions in order to complete work assignments

• Able to complete any required daily, weekly and monthly paperwork in a timely and effective manner with little or no corrections from the Foreman.

• Able to know how to use a transit to identify the grade

• Able to correctly use a laser to level the base

• Able to layer gravel prior to laying pipe

• Able to travel to and from locations as needed

• Able to work any position, that they are trained on, as is required to complete the job

• Able to meet realistic deadlines and follow up to insure quality results

• Able to complete jobs from start to finish

• Able to successfully work all activities.

• Able to work outside requiring tolerance of outside temperatures including excess heat, cold and precipitation

• Able to anticipate problems on the job before they happen in order to avoid wasted time and materials

Reporting Relationships

• Pipe Layer Helper – Utilities reports to their Foreman on their assigned jobs

Responsibilities

• Complete all daily, weekly and monthly tasks

• Ensure the work area is clean and kept that way all the time

• Ensure the work area is accessible

Duties

• Accurately count the “take off” items as they are delivered once in a while. Ensure the delivery is correct and act immediately to resolve any issues with its accuracy on any delivery

• Can slope or bench a wall depending on the situation

• Follow the estimate/bid to ensure job completeness and positive contractor relations

• Respond to the Engineer, General Contractor and their team to resolve issues

• Respond to any Inspector if they ask a direct question

• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

• Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.

• Must have a valid driver’s license to drive a company vehicle.

• They are able to understand general or conceptual drawings, including materials, methods of attachment, and any information necessary to make that drawing clear and complete.

• Revises their work duties per approved change orders

• Able to set up a manhole area

• Maintains and insures all OSHA standards are met.
• Physical Presence Required.
• Face to Face/In Person Meetings.
• Regular Attendance.

Performance Measurements

• Quality of finished jobs meet or exceed standards

• Deadlines are met or exceeded

• Positive feedback received from Foreman, Super Foreman and Superintendents on communications and exchange of information

• All Job Profit issues are addressed and discussed with their Foreman/Direct Report to see if any further action can be taken to guarantee positive results

Salary : $46,598 - $70,668
