Concrete Laborer

This is a skilled/unskilled position requiring an understanding of concrete construction. Laborer needs to be experienced in the following equipment but not limited to, shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, concrete rakes, early entry concrete saws, etc. Laborers will be required to assist in cleaning concrete. Laborer must be able to operate company equipment in a safe and drug free manner. Laborer must be able to keep a level head under stressful conditions and work overtime when required. This position requires day to day interaction with other employees. Contribute to the Team effort for success by working wherever they are needed when they are available

Requirements

· Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions in order to maintain a safe and productive work site i.e. excessive heat, cold and precipitation

· Able to give and receive clear and concise directions to the other employees

· Able to react to unexpected problems that require a “Plan B” approach using different approaches based on getting the job done with what is available at the time and place

· Able to complete jobs from start to finish

· Able to anticipate problems on the job before they happen in order to avoid wasted time and materials

· Understand concrete placement, and work and labor associated with concrete paving construction.

· Provide labor/assistance with all aspects of our construction needs.

· Operate equipment safely and efficiently.

· Inspect/maintain/clean equipment.

· Assist in the cleaning of equipment and general housekeeping.

· Knowledge of concrete

· Must have a satisfactory work history record.

· Able to maintain confidentiality and be above reproach with regards to all V.K. Knowlton Construction and Utilities, Inc. matters

Reporting Relationships

· Laborer- Machine Operator to the Foreman

Responsibilities

· Operate all equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

· Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.

· Must be available to report to work with at any time during their assigned shift, to work irregular hours in stressful situations and to report on time

· Must not use any drugs or substances that would interfere with the ability to drive safely.

· Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

· Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

· Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.

· Must have a valid driver’s license to drive a company vehicle.

· Must be capable of working independently without constant supervision.

· Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.

· Must understand and be able to implement safe efficient load handling and lifting procedures.

· Must be able to perform the work required in a timely manner and maintain adequate production

Duties

· Report all accidents or incidents involving driver of company equipment.

· Must possess good judgment to perform the functions of the job and communicate professionally with those persons with whom the employee will be in contact as a company representative.

· Quality of finished jobs meet or exceed standards

· Daily assigned loads or jobs are met or exceeded
