Department: Office of Information Technology – South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH)
Scope of Project
The State of South Carolina DPH has migrated its server environment to the State IT Data Center and requires additional support to complete remediation and transition into a segmented framework. Due to the large volume of systems, interdependencies, and distributed environments across the state, further engineering support is needed. The consultant will support server hosting planning, design, configuration, modernization, and daily operational management while ensuring compliance with federal and state security standards (CIS, NIST, HIPAA, CDC, CJIS).
Responsibilities:
• Participate in cross-functional teams to support server segmentation and modernization initiatives
• Assist with planning, designing, installation, configuration, and conversion of physical and virtual server environments
• Advise on hardware configurations and system implementations in alignment with project requirements
• Work with vendors and internal IT teams to troubleshoot issues and support migration activities
• Implement access controls, security baselines, and audit logging following CIS/NIST standards
• Support cybersecurity teams in vulnerability remediation and incident handling
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex identity/access/authentication issues
• Coordinate with network, server, and help desk teams on infrastructure needs
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and cloud-integration efforts
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, implementation plans, and lifecycle roadmaps
• Follow DPH IT standards, security policies, documentation requirements
• Work flexibly and perform tasks outside traditional business hours when necessary
