Scope of Project
The State of New York is seeking an experienced Business Analyst consultant. The consultant will analyze business processes and systems, document business and technical requirements, support testing activities, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business solutions and technology integration initiatives.
The selected consultant will work as a primary or lead Business Analyst and will be responsible for requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, testing coordination, defect management, and stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities
- Analyze an organization or business domain and document business processes or systems.
- Assess business models and integration with technology solutions.
- Elicit, validate, and document business-approved functional and non-functional business requirements for use by the technology team.
- Analyze and document business processes including workflow processes, data input/output activities, and descriptions of data elements.
- Create test plans, test reports, and manage defects using industry-standard tools to identify, document, communicate, prioritize, track, and resolve problems.
- Plan, design, develop, and execute testing strategies.
- Translate and document technical information for business/program consumption to ensure consistency and common understanding across stakeholder groups.
- Determine business requirement priorities among diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business users, and project stakeholders throughout the SDLC lifecycle.
- Provide guidance to teams and support project delivery activities.
- Prepare documentation and conduct formal/informal knowledge transfer sessions.
- Support mentoring, peer reviews, standards documentation, and training activities as needed.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 84 Months experience working as a primary or lead business analyst.
- 84 Months experience creating test plans, test reports, and defect management using industry-standard tools to identify, document, communicate, prioritize, track and resolve problems.
- 60 Months experience with eliciting, validating, and documenting business-approved functional and non-functional business requirements for use by the technology team.
- 60 Months experience with analysis and documentation of business processes by describing relevant factors including workflow processes, data input/output activities, and descriptions of data elements.
- 48 Months experience planning, designing, developing, and executing test strategies.
- 48 Months experience translating and documenting technical information for business/program consumption to ensure consistency and common understanding across the stakeholder groups.
- 36 Months of experience with determining business requirement priorities among diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- 36 Months experience as a systems analyst, software engineer, and/or developer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidate is a certified Business Analyst or Quality Assurance Tester.
- Candidate has a bachelor’s degree in an IT related field.
