We are searching for an Sr. Research Scientist to perform a variety of hands-on work, test instrumentation operation and improvement, develop new test techniques, vacuum installation and processes. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills and appropriately prioritize their schedule to achieve the tasks' completion.
Job Description: Test VIG’s heat transfer performance using instruments and testers. Ability to quickly learn operation principles of heat flow instruments and vacuum pressure systems. Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair testers and systems, resolving all problems. Design and implement basic modifications to resolve testing problems. Analyze vacuum released compounds by RGA (Residual Gas Analyzer) or other techniques.
Scientist Responsibilities:
· Design, build, and optimize tests required to qualify performance of VIGs
· Identify contaminants that decay vacuum in VIGs
· Improve decontamination of internal envelope of VIGs
· Data processing and maintaining database of tests performed on VIGs
· Able to multitask and effectively handle multiple assignments through effective project prioritization and time management
· Organize tasks into a timeline and ensure that all deadlines are being met
Scientist Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar relevant work experience
- Knowledge of heat transfer, adsorption and absorption, surface chemistry
- Knowledge of RGA, MS, microscopy and other analytical techniques is a plus
- Knowledge of thermal and photo activated processes is a plus
- Knowledge of design of experiment methods is a plus
- Knowledge of vacuum systems is a plus
- Details oriented, proactive, responsible, and punctual
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- This position includes working in a manufacturing and/or warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, lift in excess of 30 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear, and have good eyesight. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
Required Education and Experience
- Candidate must have experience in instrumental and applied chemistry / science
- Hands on experience in designing tests and experiments
Work Authorizations / Security Clearance / Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Candidates must submit to post-offer background check and drug screening.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule / Travel
- Core work hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Available to travel as needed for technology development and supplier interactions
- Must be flexible to work overtime as required
