What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Vendor Relations Specialist position at UWM?

This 200-acre campus includes three commercial office spaces that total over 2M square feet – all beautifully and meticulously maintained and manicured.
The Campus Grounds Specialist serves as a liaison between our building facilities and grounds maintenance teams, and/or outside vendors. In this role, you would oversee all efforts related to landscaping, grounds upkeep and improvement. This includes oversight of daily operations, project planning/design/execution, and scheduling logistics for Team Members and outside vendors.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Coordinating activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of vendors and team members
- Evaluating and verifying vendor performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
- Maintaining records, preparing reports, and composing correspondence relative to the work requisitions
- Sourcing and purchasing materials for the vendor to maintain the grounds
- Maintaining all sidewalks and drives in all seasons
- Overseeing irrigation of the properties
- Preparing topographical maps of the facility’s grounds, including irrigation
- Preparing quantity and cost estimates on proposed landscape projects
- Making assignments to vendors or working parties in the development and care of extensive and elaborate grounds
- Scheduling and overseeing the planting and harvesting of the facility’s gardens
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- 2 years of professional horticultural leadership/management experience in a commercial and/or corporate environment
- Experience working with Vendors
- Knowledge of buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance
- Project Management experience
- Good computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
