Job Duties:

This appointment will be in the 2026-2027 Interventional Nephrology Fellowship Program receiving advanced training in Interventional Nephrology.

Clinical patient care at UW Health approved locations; clinical research endeavors; participation in the clinical teaching of medical students and residents. Incumbent will participate in the Department of Medicine, Nephrology Division journal club activities and continuing professional education activities.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
  • There is a possibility this position could be extended for one additional year, for a total maximum of two years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

This position will always function as a trainee when performing vascular access procedural care. The incumbent will be expected to:

  • Participate in weekly Nephrology Grand Rounds; present one Grand Rounds session and one fellow' core curriculum lecture
  • Present one abstract at a national conference and publish one manuscript
  • Participate in any new quality improvement or peer review activities related to interventional nephrology

An additional component of the fellowship appointment is providing unsupervised clinical services for the Division of Nephrology as necessary and as assigned by the Division Chief. The clinical activities will include: general nephrology duties, such as:

  • Ambulatory clinic with a focus on chronic kidney disease care (One half-day per week)
  • Inpatient service on general nephrology services (acutes and End-Stage Renal Disease) including 8 weekend calls.
  • The position will often supervise and teach residents and medical students while on service.

Compensation:

Starting salary for this position is $54,445.

Required Qualifications:

2 years of general nephrology fellowship completed before the start of the Interventional Nephrology fellowship required.

MD - Physician - State Licensure Required

Wisconsin Medical License required before start date.

Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine by the start date.
