Work Schedule:
This is a weekender position, 90% FTE, 8/12-hour evening/night shift primarily to be 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, working every weekend. Eligible for weekender differential of $10/hour for applicable weekend hours worked. Holiday rotation required. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Practice at University Hospital in Madison, ranked among the nation's top heart hospitals, and be part of a high-performing cardiac team delivering exceptional outcomes.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit caring for intermediate and general cardiology patients, supported by central monitors throughout the unit and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Provide expert care for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, and dysrhythmias, including management of titratable vasoactive drips.
  • Partner closely with the Cardiac Cath Lab for pre- and post-procedure care, and collaborate with advanced heart failure teams managing pre-transplant and LVAD patients within a growing, innovative program.
  • Grow with us: beginning this summer, the unit will expand to include external pacemaker management and a broader cardiac surgical population, creating exciting new opportunities to build expertise with advanced cardiac technologies in a high-acuity setting.

Pay:

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $4/hour evening, $5/hour night as applicable for hours worked. Weekender positions qualify for the $10/hr weekender differential as applicable for hours worked.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Work Experience

  • Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory: Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • Relevant RN experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • Relevant certification Preferred
