POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a technologist, assists in providing patient care. Performs a variety of clinical support duties. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Minimum:
Completed CNA or EMT Certification or successful completion of fundamentals of patient care nursing course or completion of clinical experience in a radiography program.

Bi-Annual CPR designation by recommended renewal date.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
Good customer service skills.
Strong telephone etiquette skills and ability to clearly and calmly communicate in English with patients, medical staff and the public.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists licensed technologist with positioning patients for examination, treatment and procedures including preparing contrast injections, and administering oral contrast to patients following established procedures.
Replenishes and prepares exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies, equipment and linen, maintaining a neat, clean and appropriately stocked environment.
Transports patients as needed following established procedures. Implements and assists with lifting, transferring and positioning patients using proper body mechanics.
Enters medical imaging arrival times and tracks exams to appropriate technologist in system following established policies and maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.
Answers telephone promptly and courteously responding to customer inquiries and providing routine information. Registers outpatients and screens patients for patient safety.
Provides the RN and/or technologists with accurate and timely information regarding patient needs and status and documents information in appropriate records maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Prepares permanent x-ray paperwork for collation following established protocols.
Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.
