Summary of Position

A Nurse Practitioner for Premier Physician Network (PPN) provides primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the center following established standards and practices of the center and PPN.

HIPAA Privacy and Security. Must understand and adhere to “incident to” policies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Obtains and documents complete medical history and physical data on patients.
2. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate and therapeutic procedures as needed.
3. Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
4. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
5. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of
prevention. Collaborates with supervising physician.
6. Administers medications and injections according to physician direction.
7. Sutures minor lacerations.
8. Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community
resources to meet patient and family needs.
9. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient
education.
10. Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
11. Manages medical and surgical emergencies.
12. Follows proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment and performs these functions when necessary.
13. Operates equipment according to policy to achieve the most accurate results. Inspects equipment
after each use, promptly notifies manager of malfunctions, problems, or needed repairs when
necessary.
14. Provides accurate information on all documentation.
15. Documents medical records with all patient encounters in the office and on the phone.
16. Completes all necessary and/or required forms.
17. Works directly with supervising and/or collaborating physician to document and obtain physician
signature as appropriate.
18. Understands and adheres to “incident-to” and “non-incident-to” service and billing guidelines using
proper provider numbers based upon service conditions at all times.
19. Exercises HIPAA confidentiality and security measures at all times during office hours and outside of
the office.

Qualifications

1. BSN required; MSN preferred.
2. Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program with active State issued licensure
with no restrictions and Certificate to Prescribe.
3. Current Ohio licensure as a registered nurse.
4. Current Certification in field.
5. Current CPR/BCLS, ACLS or PALS certifications
