The PA/NP will provide expertise in a consultative role to patients with advanced disease and their families. Joining a collaborative team that includes a physician, nurse practitioner, social worker, and chaplain, this PA/NP will assist with the coordination of care to effectively meet the medical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. The ideal candidate will be an adaptable team player who can problem-solve from a perspective of caring and curiosity, employ excellent communication skills, and thrive in high-pressure environments. This is a 1.0 FTE exempt position that will be scheduled to work four 10-hr shifts per week. Currently there is no call nor weekends; this is subject to change as the service grows. Experience 3 years clinical PA/NP experience required. New graduates will be considered only if they have completed a formal fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The ideal candidate will have experience in palliative care, although skilled nursing or hospice experience may be considered. Palliative Care Board Certified or eligible preferred; eligibility or certification within one year of hire required. Education PA: Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 – Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required. NP: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
