Building Name: CVPH - FitzPatrick Cancer Center Location Address: 212 Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh New York Regular Department: CVPH – FCC Medical Oncology Full Time Standard Hours: 40 Biweekly Scheduled Hours: 80 Shift: Day Primary Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Weekend Needs: As Scheduled Salary Range: Min $53.72 Mid $67.15 Max $80.58 Recruiter: Katie Dubrey GENERAL SUMMARY: Assess patient’s condition, diagnoses, orders appropriate diagnostic tests, and develops treatment plans in conjunction with the Medical Oncologists to manage a cancer patient’s disease and symptoms in the setting of the clinic office to assure that the delivery of quality patient care is consistent with policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement and infection control activities. Performs duties and care in the inpatient setting as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Completion of physician assistant or nurse practitioner education program approved by the American Medical Association required. 2. Current license as Registered Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State with experience in the Hematology/Oncology field preferred. 3. Current or eligible for NYS DEA license required. 4. Affiliation/membership with Hematology/Oncology Specialty group/organizations is strongly encouraged. 5. BLS required, ACLS preferred. 6. Understanding and commitment to CVPH core values of teamwork, confidentiality and quality care required. 7. Expertise in clearly communicating medical information to professional practitioners and general public required. 8. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, procedures, and medical equipment to administer patient care required. 9. Knowledge of OSHA standards/regulations. 10. Ability to make appropriate decisions with a minimum amount of supervisory direction. 11. Skill in taking medical history to access medical condition and interpret findings. 12. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. 13. Desire to remain current on emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues and approaches as they relate to oncology. 14. Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients and external customers. Must have the ability to work in team environment. 15. Ability to react calmly and effectively at all times including emergency situations. 16. Must be able to travel to regional/outreach facilities as needed. 17. Knowledge of ONCO EMR highly preferred. 18. Completed clinical rotation in Hematology/Oncology within the last year highly preferred. As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
