At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, quality and patient safety are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Coordinator RN to help strengthen clinical performance, support regulatory readiness, and advance a culture of continuous improvement throughout our hospital.

In this role, you’ll bring together your nursing experience, analytical skills, and passion for quality to identify opportunities for improvement and turn them into meaningful action. From reviewing clinical documentation and investigating safety events to leading improvement initiatives, your work will help our teams deliver safer, more consistent, high-quality care.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with CMS Core Measures, The Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Support ongoing survey readiness for The Joint Commission, CMS, state agencies, and other external organizations.

  • Conduct concurrent and retrospective chart reviews to evaluate documentation accuracy and adherence to clinical protocols.

  • Educate clinical teams on documentation best practices, regulatory standards, core measures, quality reporting, and patient safety.

  • Use Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA methodologies to identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows and patient outcomes.

  • Participate in and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) involving serious safety events, near misses, and other quality concerns.

  • Develop corrective action plans and monitor progress to help ensure improvements are sustained.

  • Investigate patient and employee incidents and maintain thorough documentation within the hospital’s incident reporting system.

  • Analyze incident data to identify trends, patterns, and potential system-level risks.

  • Collaborate with Risk Management, clinical leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to reduce risk and prevent future occurrences.

  • Prepare and present quality indicators, core measure results, and incident trends to hospital leadership, quality committees, and frontline teams.

  • Serve as a resource for evidence-based quality improvement and patient safety practices throughout the organization.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration preferred.

  • Three to five years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.

  • Three years of quality improvement and patient safety experience strongly preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. If not already certified, required certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

  • Strong understanding of CMS, The Joint Commission, state regulatory requirements, and hospital accreditation standards.

  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Meditech or Epic and incident reporting platforms.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data and findings into actionable improvements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Make a hospital-wide impact on patient safety, clinical quality, and outcomes.

  • Combine your nursing experience with quality improvement, data analysis, and problem-solving.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams and hospital leadership to create meaningful and sustainable improvements.

  • Play an important role in regulatory and accreditation readiness.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve systems and prevent future safety events.

  • Continue developing your expertise in healthcare quality, patient safety, and performance improvement.

  • Join a community-focused organization committed to delivering safe, high-quality care to every patient we serve.
