At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, accurate diagnostic testing and compassionate patient care go hand in hand. We are looking for a dependable and patient-focused Patient Care Technician to join our Respiratory team and support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions.

In this role, you’ll perform EKGs and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures while helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout their testing experience. If you enjoy working directly with patients, have a strong attention to detail, and are interested in cardiac diagnostics, we’d love to meet you.

In This Role, You Will:

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and rhythm strips according to established procedures.

• Assist with stress testing under physician supervision.

• Apply and remove Holter monitors and event recorders and educate patients on their proper use.

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly communicate abnormal findings to the appropriate healthcare team member.

• Explain procedures to patients and provide reassurance throughout the testing process.

• Protect patient comfort, privacy, and confidentiality during every interaction.

• Operate and maintain EKG machines and other cardiac diagnostic equipment.

• Accurately document test results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and hospital systems.

• Prepare and route EKG reports to physicians for review.

• Maintain accurate testing logs and patient documentation.

• Follow infection control, safety, HIPAA, and hospital requirements.

• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities.

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers required.

• Completion of required EKG interpretation courses within six months of hire.

• Previous EKG technician or healthcare experience preferred.

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EKG Technician, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential preferred.

• Understanding of heart anatomy, EKG readings, and EKG equipment.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and healthcare team members.

• Ability to remain calm, organized, and focused while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
