If you’re big into bikes, scooters, or other forms of sustainable alternative transportation, or are interested in dipping your toe in, P&T is looking for help expanding support for these activities at UVA! We’re looking for current or future cyclists, artists, social media gurus, mechanics, urban planners, and educators to join us in nurturing and growing the bike community on Grounds. With major bike infrastructure plans in the works, and a University-run bike co-op opening soon, there’s never been a better time at UVA to get on a bike! Applicants should be able to repeatedly lift up to 50lbs, be willing to work outside, and be able to ride a bike. Purpose: to aid in the day-to-day activities and responsibilities involved in P&T’s Alternative Transportation initiatives Responsibilities & Duties: Collaborate with Alternative Transportation to collect data on bike & scooter usage on Grounds Assist in auditing existing bike support infrastructure Assist in planning and installing new bike support infrastructure Plan and participate in bike-related outreach and engagement events & activities Plan and create social media and newsletter posts Start/End Date: Beginning of Fall Semester through the end of Spring Semester, with options to continue through the summer break. Anticipated Working Hours: Flexible working hours, with a minimum of 8hrs/week up to 29hrs/week Wage: $19/hr This position is open to being a FWS assignment.
