Supervises Positions:
JOB SUMMARY
Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. Receives assignments as delegated by the RN. The Certified Technical Assistant will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patients needs relative to this information. Provides care based on established policies and procedures. The Technical Assistant performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
1 year of experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure:
Current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with state required.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required:
Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. High level of compassion, desire to help others and highly motivated.
Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:
Phlebotomy and medical terminology.
Competencies:
- Patient Care: Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
- Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
- Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
- Nursing Expertise: Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
- Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques. Adheres to safety measures.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Demand Code:
Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
