Job Summary
The Respiratory Supervisor is responsible for the development of the service line by staying updated on best practice and new technologies. They are also leaders in the professional growth and development of each team member they represent through education, training, mentoring and guidance in that professional journey.
Collaboration: Participates in the teaching and counseling of patients and their support system.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an accredited school for Respiratory Care required. BS/BA/BSRT preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience as RRT in acute care setting required. Previous experience in supervisor role preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Registered by National Board of Respiratory Care and current RCP licensure in applicable state required. BLS required upon hire. ACLS, NRP and PALS to be completed within 90 days of hire date.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Exhibits leadership characteristics to include: listening to gain understanding, keeps promises made, supports the organization in word and deed, supports the staff, communicates effectively and asks for feedback, makes fair decisions based on the needs of all staff, shares knowledge to improve and challenge staff to be their best, treats others with fairness and respect, chooses competent, compatible staff, visualizes the big picture for the department as we relate to the organization, creates a personal connection with staff that fosters mutual respect, has a work ethic which is a model for the staff and motivates staff through encouragement and vision for the department.

- Possesses the ability to prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.
- Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
- Utilizes appropriate communication tools when communicating within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care.
- Documents appropriate information within a timely manner.
- Practices according to the state requirements and standards.
- Engages in self-reflection and develops personal goals to enhance knowledge, obtain professional certification, or pursue academic degree.
- Integrates gained knowledge into practice.
- Makes suggestions and helps with implementation of improvement processes.
- Monitors and implements procedures relevant to job safety.
- Demonstrates a willingness to adjust activities to accommodate the needs of team members/internal customers.
- Resolves conflicts independently, as appropriate.
